Romans 14:19
So let’s agree to use all our energy in getting along with each other. Help others with encouraging words (MSG)

I will admit that I don’t always use my energy trying to get along with everyone. There have been times when I have used all my energy giving someone a hard time. There were no encouraging words. This verse shares with us that all of our energy should be directed towards getting along with each other. We need to help those around us with encouraging words. Today why don’t you pray that God gives you the chance to bless people by your words? Look around today and look for folks you and encourage. You could complement someone on their clothes, shoes, hair, the way they study etc. Today you could bless people around you. Read this verse a couple of more times out loud so you goes deep inside of you. Enjoy your day blessing those around you today.

Remember who you were

Colossians 1:21-22
This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions.
Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

One quality that ought to be a characteristic of Christians today is that they need to be thankful people. God wants every believer to be thankful. He doesn’t want us looking back wishing things were different in the past. He doesn’t want us looking to the future in fear or selfish ambitions. He wants us to be thankful for what He has done for us and that He will take care of us.

One way which we are made to be thankful is by always remembering what we were before Christ. A lot of Christians come from broken homes. Some have been bound by addictions such as drugs, alcohol. Some of us were ensnared by wrong relationships. We were bound to those things because we were children of this world at one time. We were lost, labeled as children of darkness by God! But God, proving His love to us, changed us to children of light because of Jesus! That’s an eternal adjustment from the worst to the best! Some of us were saved at a very young age and don’t have a history of brokenness and entangling in different sins. What God wants us to be thankful for then is the life that He saved us from. There is nothing that separates believers from non-believers except for Christ. Without Him, we would all be the same, headed for the same final destination.

Take time to think about what you could have been if not for Jesus, or what your life was before Jesus. Thank Him for saving you and giving you His life. Christ strengthens us in Him when we choose to be thankful for what He has done for us. It sure beats any other alternative!

Psalm 119: 105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

“A light unto my path”, so in dark times when everything just seems to tough and you don’t know what to do, where do you turn? Do you turn to God and the Bible? When tough times come please make all of your decisions based on the Word of God. If you stop and pray in your situation and you ask God to show you through His word and through Godly people you will find that the decisions you make will be much better decisions than if you react to your situation and base any decision on that! I have been in those tough situations when I have just gone with my “gut” or my emotions and then have regretted it, especially if it was just a quick reaction to something that deserved more time, thought and prayer. You know what it is like to try to find your way through a room where it is dark, don’t live your life in the dark without letting the Word of God guide you when it is right at your fingertips! If you read your Bible and you still don’t know what to do, ask your parents or your Youth Pastor or Pastor, someone that can help you with Godly wisdom. The blessings of God come from wholeheartedly following Him and some of those that are the best would just even be your every day peace of mind!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Verse 1)
He is your refuge and strength, an ever-present help whether it’s your first or last day of middle school.
He is your refuge whether you get good grades or often fail. He is your help whether you are the most popular guy in school or you wonder if anyone knows your name.
God is your source of strength in every situation.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (Verse 2)
Because you have God, you need not fear, though your parents threaten to divorce, though your best friend turns her back on you, or you get cut from the basketball team.
You world won’t collapse when you have to stand in front of the class and give a speech, even thought you are shy and unsure of what you’ll say. You will not fear!

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. (Verse 4). Though you often struggle with loneliness, worries, and insecurities, God is there.
Though things look dark now, a promised new day will come. God is great at changing darkness into light and despair into joy.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (Verse 7)
The Lord Almighty is with you in your situation - no matter what threatens you, no matter how powerful your enemies are.
God is your fortress, a strong, impenetrable place of safety.

John 13:35
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

Love sounds like a mushy thing, especially to guys. For a guy to say to another guy that he loves him, it just sounds weird. Just try it and you will get an interesting response from the other person. While I am just messing around, the word love is not used in the same way that it was back in Jesus’ time. When someone today thinks of love, it’s more of a physical thing either equated with sexual relations, which is not reality, or family or a close friend’s acceptance. While an acceptance from someone isn’t a bad thing, the love that comes from Christ is so much deeper than that.

There are two things about Christ’s love that separates from any other kind of love that we think of today. Christ’s love is unconditional, that means that He loves you regardless of who you are and what you have done. This is mind boggling. Christ knows everything about you, all the good and all the bad, and yet He still accepts us with His love. This love is also a giving love. Christ proved His love for us by giving the very best that He had, Himself, to save us from eternal torment in hell. This love caused Him to lay down His life for us. It is with this love that He longs for us to live for other in His purpose for our lives.

Jesus said that there is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for His friend. This is that kind of love He was talking about. Christ wants believers to let Him live His love through us to the world. The world is hungry for this love. It longs for this love, craves for it. People will do extreme things and go to dangerous lengths to get this love and never experience it. That’s because it can only be given through a Christians willingness to live it out through Christ to another person till that person accepts Christ for Himself through salvation. This is the love that separates us from the rest of the world. This is what separates us from Islam, Bhuda, Hindu, you name it! This love is what proves to the world that Christ is the answer they are looking for. Let Christ live His love through you today and let Him change the world one person at a time through His plan for the ages!

Luke 6:45
It’s who you are, not what you say and do, that counts. Your true being brims over into true words and deeds. (MSG)

I see people all the time that share with me how much they love God. Yet I see some people who really know how to talk the talk but they never walk the walk. I know some individuals that could write today’s Bible study and absolutely bless and encourage you but they themselves would never think about doing what they wrote about. If you are not allowing God to do a good work in your heart then your talk will be cheap and your works worthless. Allowing God to do a good work in your heart means you need to surrender to what he is asking you to do. That might mean breaking up with a boyfriend or girlfriend that is not a Christian or living for Christ. That might mean you need to stop going to the wrong parties or sharing the dirty jokes. It might mean you actually need to move out and stop living with that person who is not your husband or wife. Once you let God do a wonderful work in your life you’ll words and deeds will be filled with God’s love and power. You might be thinking this isn’t going to be easy? You are right, but if it were easy everyone would be doing it right? Are you ready to surrender the things in your life that you know are not right?

Your First Love

Revelation 2:4 & 5a
Nevertheless I have something against you, because you have left your first love. Remember therefore where you came from and repent.

Sooner or later if you want the blessing of God on your life you will have to go back to the original plan He had for your life and that is for you to love Him totally and to give your life to Him completely! No more of this attitude of; “well, I will give Him this area, but not my boyfriend or girlfriend or maybe it’s your children and then there is this addiction, I really don’t think I am ready to give Him that either, I mean what would I do if I gave it ALL to Him?” That attitude just needs to be left on the side of the road and it is time to move forward! How about instead asking Him today to show you what you haven’t given to Him? Ask Him to help you to grow into being all you can be in your lifetime! You might just shock yourself, let alone everyone around you if you allow Him to do everything He has planned for your life! Trust me, it will be the ride of your life, there may be a few bumps in the road, but if you give them to Him as well it will all be good! He can change your mourning into dancing! Psalm 30:11, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Ask Him to give you back your love for Him and the excitement of when you first gave your life to Him. Start fresh today so you can have every blessing of God on your life!

Level Ground

Pslam 143:10, “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”

Have you ever been in an earthquake? I was in a little one. People from Michigan are not qualified to talk about earthquakes but I am fearlessly talking about them. Forgive me if you live in California.
Everything in the room bounced up and down. The dog barked and the cat hid in panic behind the couch. Our steady ground was gone! Crisis, conflict and fear take me to that place of emotional and spiritual shaky ground. I wanted to bark out my fear and then run from my problems by hiding behind an emotional sofa.
This verse gives me a huge clue to living on level ground. Seek God’s will! When I seeking His will; hearing the Spirit’s voice and obeying the direction given by God; nothing can shake me. Problems, misunderstandings and frustrations will not trip me because I’m centered in God’s will.

Where’s Your Hope?

Jeremiah 17:7
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

Hope says that life may never be the same, but it can be good again in a different way. There are so many things in our lives that can just make life seem like it will never be good again! I lost my Dad to lung cancer 3 years ago and it was very difficult to see how life would ever be as good. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a huge loss to not have him here but life is good in different ways. I had a friend once tell me after my dad died that it isn’t so much just losing someone that you love as it is losing someone that loves you that much and that was exactly right! How would that void ever be filled and how would things ever get better. I am an adult, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t still rely on my Dad’s wisdom for things and his love was so unconditional. But God is so good and I look at where I am now and the incredible man God has allowed me to marry and I can see now, that it ISN’T the same, but it is truly good in a different way! Hang onto your hope and allow God to do something different in your life to bless you!

“O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.” Ps. 131

May you find your strength in the acknowledgement of HIS grace freely given to each of us. May your every thought and action be filled with the constant reminder that it is for the sake of revealing HIS glory that we do all that we do, and if what we do does not reveal more of the Love and Glory of God, then is what we are doing worth doing? If so may we find or Joy in that and not much else other than the truth in the word and the love we share with one another. May your day be, your mind and heart be filled with praises to the God who gave us all that we do not deserve and not what we do. The one that continues to bless and love you and I DAILY. I CHARGE YOU TO CHALLENGE YOUR HEART AND MIND TO PRAISE JESUS, in word, in deed, in all that we think. Praise GOD!!!
